Settimana scorsa ero da Cavalli a Castrezzato ed oltre ad aver rivisto l'amico\fratello Riccardo mi sono reso conto della straordinarieta' della sua invenzione dei Roto PBS, vedendoli dal vivo ma soprattutto provandoli

Praticamente perfetti! Il timing rimane sempre lo stesso e l'oscillazione del piatto regolare. Insomma un'invenzione veramente geniale.

Ciao a tutti ... dal 14 agosto al 12 settembre la RotodruM è in tour in America questi sono i posti dove il verbo RotodruM verrà diffuso ...possibile che si aggiungano strada facendo altri eventi ... pure con l'aiuto di Spanky MecCurdy che è diventato Endorser RotodruM Roto PbS ..... Vi annuncio che a Ottobre ci potrebbe essere l'ospitata presso la birreria di Aronar ( Riccardo ) ... per una ROTO DAY .... e poi ragazzi altre cose in arrivo probabile che per il NAMM 2015 presenterò un altro brevetto .... una batteria completa tutta diversa e di una innovazione assurda ,,,, e , se va tutto come spero ... la possibiltà di andare a vivere direttamente in USA dove aprire un piccolo laboratorio per una grande distribuzione USA interessata al mio Marchio .... lavoro per il mio futuro ma sempre un grazie ai ragazzi del forum ..... a presto con altre notizie ROTONEWS ...

hola un saluto da Central Lake alto lago del Micigan ... due gg di realx per poi ripartire con altre demo per negozi e poi ancora verso New York per due gg di meeteng in due sale di registrazione dove poi stazionerà la RototrolleY per due settimane prima di essere venduta .....ho già la fila di acquirenti che la vogliono .... meglio così ...
OK Vi invito a mettere un paio di cuffie o alzare il volume delle casse per sentire al meglio questa prova RotodruM in vari generi musicali ... noterete poi i vari cambi set-up per le canzoni .... pure girare la reticella del rullante al contrario oppure le palline nel rullo usato come timpano e non ultimo i microfoni interni ai tamburi e non sempre nel rullante ... vebbè buona visione ma sopratutto ascolto .... ciaociao Riccardo sempre con Voi anche se un pò latitante .... Girando in internet mi ero perso questo articolo che parlava della RotodruM al NAMM 2014 .... Per il NAMM 2015 sarò al booth 2855 bellissima posizione molto più centrale e davanti ed in parte alle fabbriche di piatti più importanti al mondo ...e molto altro .... La RotodruM presentarà la RotoGhosT tutta in acrilico clear molto molto Ghost montata sul Trolley .... tutto il set composto da 8\10\12\14\20\s14 avrà la possibilità di essere impacchettato e montato per il trasporto sul RototrolleY con hardware e piatti .... ok ciaociao Riccardo

Can instruments be objectively judged?
Of course not. BUT... the scrutiny, reactions and praise of the judges and the public has been highly entertaining and attracts a lot of drummers’ eyeballs in person at the show, as well as online! Everybody wins! Some companies are still using their 1998 certificates in their advertising!

How do I enter the Snare Drum Olympics?
Fill out the online registration and submit with your payment. Please ship your drum(s) and printed application, one drum per box, to George Lawrence, Not So Modern Drummer, 3341 Towne Village Road, Antioch TN 37013 by september 15h for the professional judging in the first week of October. The earlier you enter and get your drum to us, the earlier your publicity begins.

Each drum will be accompanied by its printed application through all of the judging processes. You can fill this out online but you must still print out the PDF application page and put it in the box with the drum so we can keep up with everything on our end. Each box must have a prepaid return shipping label inside unless you or someone else is picking up the drum in person at the Nashville Drum Show, and we need to be informed of that. Please insure your drum(s) both ways. We will not be responsible for shipping damage.

Please put a price tag with the list price on it whether you are selling the drum or not, and a list price AND show price if you are selling it. Drums to be sold will be considered used demos, so please keep that in mind. If your drum is entered in the silent auction, the bidding will start at the show price which the manufacturer sets. If sold, the manufacturer receives the show price and Not So Modern Drummer receives any money over the show price.

Please tune each drum tightly to stretch the heads and let them seat, then tune the drum to your liking, preferably a medium high tension on the batter head and a very tight snare side head. To make the playing field level and to correct head stretching, we will re-tune the drums in each size and category to similar tensions and pitches right before the judging. We require medium weight single-ply heads (Remo Ambassador, for example) for the batter and medium weight snare side heads. We have found that double-ply, dotted and thicker heads will not do well in the rankings (duller snare wire response), plus the playing field needs to be level so we are comparing all drums with the same weight heads. You do not have to use a specific brand of drum head.

The fee for each drum entered is $100, due with the receipt of your drum. This fee can be paid by credit card or PayPal at our website, or a check can be sent via snail mail. Checks are preferred. The entry fees are what pays for the event, advertising, judges’ fees and the video production. It also buys your basic small listing in the Nashville Drum Show program on the Snare Drum Olympics page. We do have larger ads in that program from $25 to $500, as well as larger website and newsletter ads. We also encourage you to attend the show or buy an exhibit booth to help promote your instruments.

Rules and Judging Criteria

There is a special designation for those who do not want their drums to be judged. You can choose to not have your drum judged, only displayed, videoed and publicized. Please let us know if you prefer this.

Drums will be grouped by their shell material and diameter. The judges will be told which material and diameter group is being judged. For instance, “Now we will hear the 14” brass drums,” or, “Now we will hear the 13” plywood drums.” Please select your shell material and sizes from the list below. Orchestral drums will be judged separately. Please note on your application if your drum is orchestral. The results will be published for each category and for the entire group overall.

Shell Materials:

Metal Shells: Steel, Brass, Copper, Bronze, Titanium, Aluminum, Other (please specify). Wood Shells: Plywood (including multi-species shells), Single-ply Steam Bent, Block Segment, Horizontal Stave, Solid (no joint). Synthetic Shells: Fiberglass, Plastic, Acrylic, Carbon Fiber, Other (please specify). Multiple Material Shells: Wood and Metal, Synthetic and Metal, etc. Please specify. If your drum fits none of these classifications, please specify its construction.

Judging Process:

The celebrity judges are chosen for their accomplishments, talent and ability to judge without bias even if they endorse a particular brand.

The blind judging takes place on a soundstage where all the drums are played by the same person behind the judges’ backs. This performance is recorded for audio/video to be put on YouTube later for the online judging and for post-publicity. The judges are told only what shell material and what size the drum is. The performer plays the same succession of rudiments, rolls, cross-stick, rim-shot and kick-snare-hat groove on each drum. The judges score each drum from one to ten based on different aspects of sound quality. You can see the 2009 videos of this online.

In the subjective judging portion the judges get their hands on each drum, play them, look at them and talk to each other about them, then rank the drum from one to ten based on more subjective qualities like appearance, feel, functionality of parts, design, sensitivity, etc.

The online judging is done by poll and is published as a separate result for each category.

The public judging takes place at the Nashville Drum Show where all the drums are set up for attendees of the show to examine and play. Each drummer must play every drum, and fill out a form at the end naming their favorite top five. The top five winners will be published as a separate result.
